About

Elsa Charalampous is a Greek visual artist born in Syros and based in Luxembourg since 2020. She graduated with distinction from the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she studied painting and mosaic, and holds an Integrated Master in Painting (1993–1998).
From 2002 to 2021, she taught Color and Drawing at the Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering at the University of the Aegean. Since 2021, she has been teaching watercolor techniques and visual arts at the British Luxembourg Society.
Her work is primarily anthropocentric and spans painting, mosaic, constructions, installations, digital art, video, and mixed media. The human figure , as a self-contained narrator , remains at the core of her practice.
She has presented solo exhibitions including Boudoir (Fellner Contemporary, Luxembourg, 2023) and D-Tales (The Netherlands, 2008–2009), and has participated in numerous international exhibitions and Biennials across Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Her works are part of important public and private collections, including the Ino-Cho Paper Museum (Japan), the National Art Museum of China (Beijing), the CICA Museum (South Korea), the Centro de Arte de Alcobendas (Spain), and the Pinacotheque of the Cyclades (Greece).
She has developed site-specific installation projects such as ARTWALKS on Syros Island and PASSage , presented at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and was invited to present her work at TEDx University of the Aegean.
She has received multiple distinctions in the field of printmaking, including selection at the Kochi Triennial (Japan), invitations to the International Printmaking Biennial of Douro (Portugal), and repeated recognition by the Luxembourg Art Prize.
In 2025, she was invited to participate in the Mapping Printmaking – Work in Progress World Book Project, an international initiative bringing together printmakers from around the world.
Her work has been widely published in international catalogues, festivals, and media, including Le Quotidien, Sky Express Fly Magazine, and the Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT).
